Below is a link to novelist Michael Cunningham’s 1998 piece on ball queen legend Angie Xtravaganza. Reading this heartbreaking article is like watching a lost Atlantis rise to the surface. It is an elegy not only for Angie, but also for an aspect of New York City that now only exists in memory.
